Do I need a secondhand dealer license?+
If you are selling costumes or props that you personally purchased and used (i.e. disposing of unwanted items), a secondhand dealer license is not required. However, a secondhand dealer license may be required in the following cases: · When purchasing goods for the purpose of resale · When selling large quantities of goods on a continuous or repeated basis · When operating with the intent to profit as a business If you are unsure, please contact the Community Safety Division (生活安全課) at your nearest police station. COSMA is designed for private individuals selling unwanted items to one another.
What are the fees?+
When a transaction is completed, the following fees are charged to the seller: · Payment processing fee (Stripe fee): 3.6% · Platform usage fee: 5% For example, if an item sells for ¥10,000: Payment processing fee: -¥360 Platform usage fee: -¥500 Your payout: ¥9,140 You can see your estimated payout in real time on the listing screen. No fees are charged to buyers.
What credit cards are accepted?+
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. JCB, Diners Club, and Discover are not currently supported.
When will I receive my earnings?+
After the buyer confirms receipt, funds are transferred to your registered Stripe account. The timing follows Stripe's payout schedule (typically the next business day or within a few business days). Note: if the buyer does not confirm receipt within 14 days of shipment, the transaction will automatically be completed and the funds will be transferred.
What is Stripe Connect?+
COSMA uses Stripe's payment system to ensure secure transactions. Buyers can pay with their usual credit card — no Stripe account required. Sellers need to complete a one-time setup (about 5 minutes) to receive payouts. See the Payment Guide for more details.

When you press the checkout button ("Proceed to Payment"), the item is temporarily reserved so that no one else can purchase it at the same time. · The reservation lasts for 5 minutes · If you do not complete payment within 5 minutes, the reservation is automatically released and the item becomes available again · If you close the payment screen, the item will become available again after 5–10 minutes If the item shows as "Sold", please wait a moment and then reload the page.
Can I return or get a refund?+
Because COSMA facilitates private peer-to-peer transactions, returns or refunds due to buyer preference are generally not accepted. However, please contact our support team in the following cases: · The item received is significantly different from the description · The item did not arrive · The item was counterfeit Please use the "Report" button on the product page or contact us via the inquiry form (/help/contact).
What happens if the size doesn't fit?+
Returns due to size issues are generally not accepted. Please carefully check the following before purchasing: · Measurements provided by the seller (bust, waist, hip, etc.) · Fit notes (e.g. "fits well for 165 cm average build") · Size labels (S/M/L, etc.) · Ask the seller directly using the product Q&A feature Sellers are encouraged to include as detailed measurements as possible to prevent disputes.
Are there items I cannot list?+
Yes, the following items may not be listed: · Counterfeit goods, pirated content, or fake branded items · Stolen goods or items obtained illegally · Items without actual photos · Items unrelated to cosplay · Tickets and cash-equivalent items · Items prohibited from sale by law · Adult-oriented items or items suggesting sexual services · Items with hygiene concerns (e.g. used sanitary products) · Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, supplements, cosmetics, colored contact lenses, etc. · Items that do not meet required safety standards · Recalled items · Items not in your possession, including drop-shipping Cosplay ROMs and photobooks may be listed, but R-18-equivalent or excessively sexual content may not be listed. Please review the Listing Guidelines for more details.
Someone asked for my personal information during a transaction+
Never share personal information such as your LINE ID, phone number, or email address within COSMA's transaction messages. Any transactions conducted outside of COSMA are not covered by our buyer protection where funds are held through Stripe until the transaction is completed. If you receive a suspicious message, please report it using the "Report" button.
What is the price negotiation (offer) feature?+
This feature lets potential buyers propose a price to the seller. · You can send your desired price from the "Negotiate price" button on the product page · If the seller accepts, the listing price changes and you can purchase it within 24 hours · If you do not purchase within 24 hours, the price reverts to the original · The seller may also decline the offer Note: sellers accept offers at their own discretion and are under no obligation to do so.
I don't want the other party to know my address+
COSMA supports buyer-anonymous pickup via Post Office Hold (郵便局留め) at no extra cost. 【Buyer side】 Select "Post office hold" at checkout and your home address and real name are never collected. The seller only sees the post office you've chosen. How it works: · Pick up at any of Japan's 24,000+ post offices · Works with almost any shipping method (Yu-Pack, Yu-Packet, LetterPack, regular mail) · Bring ID (driver's license, My Number card, etc.) when picking up 【Seller (sender) side】 Currently, the seller's name and address may appear on the shipping label depending on the shipping method. To anonymize the sender: · Yu-Pack / Yu-Packet: bring the package to a post office counter and ask to omit the sender field (no ID required) · LetterPack: sender field is required and cannot be omitted · Convenience-store shipping: subject to clerk discretion — post office counter is recommended 【Coming soon】 Once our integration with Yamato's Delivery Linkage API is complete, we will add convenience-store pickup (7-Eleven etc.), Yamato branch pickup, and QR-based seller anonymization. 【Data protection】 Shipping information (both home delivery and post office hold) is stored encrypted and automatically deleted 90 days after the transaction is complete.
I want to delete my account+
You can delete your account from the "Delete Account" option in the Settings page. If you have any ongoing transactions, deletion will be available only after all transactions have been completed.
Is COSMA available in languages other than Japanese?+
Yes. COSMA is available in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. You can switch the language from the "Language" option in the Settings page. Menus, error messages, and email notifications throughout the site will also be displayed in your selected language.
What is the "Identity Verified" badge?+
An automatic badge granted to sellers who complete Stripe Connect registration for receiving payouts. It indicates that the seller has passed Stripe's identity verification (name, address, ID documents). No separate application or additional fee is required. Once you complete Stripe Connect setup from My Page → Payout Settings, the badge will automatically appear on your profile and listing detail pages. Note: The badge may be temporarily removed if Stripe's review or restrictions affect your account. Note: Buyer-side identity verification is not currently supported.
